Over the past seven years, the East Alabama Food Bank has benefitted greatly from a unique fundraiser. The Annual Gardener's Plant Sale takes place each spring with the goal to raise money for the “Brown Bag” program that the food bank sponsors. The program provides supplemental grocery items to seniors who qualify for the help.

While there's never as much to provide as there are people in need, last year's sale raised $8,500, which provided enough food to feed 113 families for the year.
