Across The Plains you can hear Samford’s bells ringing, or are those wedding bells chiming for a couple who has just tied the knot in Samford Park?
In the past, Samford Park has hosted university celebrations and ceremonies, but has recently been opened to the Auburn Family as not just a wedding venue, but a wedding experience.
Auburn University, along with The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center and the Opelika-Auburn News are in preparation for giving away a free wedding, a War Eagle Wedding.
“We are proud to be able to offer this opportunity in conjunction with The Hotel at Auburn University, Opelika-Auburn News and WRBL.” Teresa Whitman-McCall, director of campus and community events for Auburn University said.
The War Eagle Wedding is a wedding given to the most spirited Auburn couple looking to plan a wedding, only the planning will be left up to the Auburn Family.
“Auburn University is honored to be able to offer this unique opportunity to one lucky couple, to give them the experience of a lifetime on their most special day.” Whitman-McCall said.
The ceremony will be held May 26, 2012 on Samford lawn in front of Auburn University’s iconic structure, Samford Hall. The reception will follow at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center.
Couples that are interested in winning a War Eagle Wedding can submit a two-minute video, or a one-page story with photos, explaining why they should be the couple to win the War Eagle Wedding.
Once the submissions are in, due by Nov. 24, the details of the wedding lie in the hands of the Auburn Family.
From the submissions, the top three most Auburn spirited couples will be chosen. From those three, members of the Auburn community will choose the one lucky couple that will receive the War Eagle Wedding.
The winning couple must then trust members of the Auburn Family with the dress, the flowers, the invitations, the cake, the photographer, the entertainment and many other details of the wedding and reception.
More information on the War Eagle Wedding and Wedding in Samford Park can be found at their website, www.wareaglewedding.com. Voting begins online on Jan. 5, 2012 to choose the winning couple.
Photos of the first wedding in Samford Park can be seen on their Facebook page www.facebook.com/auwedding.
