As we walk in we hear treadmills, ellipticals, heavy weights hitting the floor, and trainers encouraging members “you can do it”. You have probably guessed that we have entered a gym, Gold’s Gym, one of the more popular gyms in Auburn. Any gym is a starting place for people who have decided to maintain a healthy lifestyle and this is where we found John Hnytka, a frequent visitor and employee of Gold’s Gym. John was nice enough to answer a few questions about his lifestyle and also share his enthusiasm for the grand opening of Earth Fare.
“Of course I will I’m counting down the days ‘till Wednesday!” This is Johns reply when I ask if he will let me interview him about Earth Fare’s grand opening and what his thoughts are about an organic lifestyle. As we set up to interview John tells us about his strict diet and how some supermarkets located in Auburn do not supply some of the organic products that he prefers.
When John is asked why he believes his lifestyle is healthy he tells us “I work out at least five to six times a week and eat considerably healthy”, which as most colleges students already know can be hard with all the ‘temptations’ we run into. He goes on to say “Earth Fare is great, I will be able to go to one store and know that when I walk in there won’t be ‘temptations’ , there won’t be an item that I can’t trust to put in my body.” Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is much more than just working out, you must collaborate eating well and Earth Fare is the one stop ‘healthy supermarket’ that will guide you to your goal.
“Eating Organic doesn’t just effect a person physically it effects the mind as well, I could tell a huge difference in my reaction time and things of that nature when I began to change my eating habits.” John’s response after asked why he would advocate eating organic. John also mentioned that he has to be on a gluten free diet which restricts him from certain eating foods, so a shopping trip can become frustrating when the average supermarket doesn’t provide a specific item he prefers.
“Earth Fare will make my grocery trips less of a hassle and a little more enjoyable, I mean I don’t know how fun going to the grocery store can be but at least less stressful.” As John laughs at himself, it becomes more apparent to that Earth Fare is more than just a new grocery store for the Auburn community it is a stress reliever as well for some.
Wrapping up our interview with John, we have seemed to have learn more from John than expected, here is this heavy weight lifter ,who if judged on appearance may not seem ‘warm and fuzzy’, that is excited about a supermarket! “I know grocery stores aren’t supposed to be exciting but Earth Fare is more than a grocery store, it’s the next step for a healthier lifestyle.” John tells us as we are walking out of the gym, which made us stop and think that Earth Fare isn’t just ‘the healthy supermarket’ for some it’s a way of life, a healthier life.
