The show will bring together four comedians, Mario Carreras, John Brasseale, Martin Morrow and Kevin Saucier, for a night of laughs at the bookstore.
According to Tina Tatum, owner of The Gnu’s Room, the idea for the comedy series originated from Anthony Dannar, host of the Antishow at The Tiger. He approached Tatum to host the event, which he emcees.
“Auburn doesn’t really have a lot of venues for a comedy show, and we’re happy to host such a fun event for the area,” said Tatum.
This comedy series began with a back-to-school kickoff show in August, and a second show in September.
Tatum said that they’ve had a great turnout for each event.
“Its been standing room only,” Tatum said. “So make sure and get there early for a good view.”
The four comedians have more in common than their ability to make people laugh. Three of the performers are graduates of Auburn University and one is still a student.
“Their ties to the school really makes the show special,” Tatum said. “They were eager to come back to Auburn for this series and get folks to come out and support comedy.”
The show is free to the public but tips are encouraged to help cover the travel expenses for the comedians who will be traveling from Birmingham and Mobile for the event. The Gnu’s Room’s coffee and tea bar will be open and locally made pastries will also be available for purchase.
According to Tatum, the show is expected to last about an hour, and patrons are welcome to drop-in at any time.
“These comedians are hysterical, and the shows provide a lot of fun and free entertainment,” Tatum said. “You would normally have to go to a larger city for this type of event, so this show is a great way to enjoy some big-city entertainment and support Auburn alumni.”
Friday’s show will start at 9 p.m. The Gnu’s Room is located at 414 S. Gay St. in Auburn at The Shops at Southside. Extra parking is available after 5 p.m. in the Auburn University lot at the corner of College Street and Samford Avenue.
