According to Phi Mu’s national website, Phi Mu is the only sorority corporate sponsor of CMN, and during the month of October, each Phi Mu chapter in the country will hold a philanthropy event to benefit CMN.
“CMN is such an amazing organization,” said Ashley Jennings, philanthropy chairman for Phi Mu. “This tournament is our biggest fundraiser for CMN each year, and allows us to raise more than $30,000 for this wonderful cause.”
CMN is a charity that raises funds for more than 170 children’s hospitals and helps the hospitals provide charitable care, establish research and education programs and purchase life-saving equipment. Since its founding in 1983, CMN has raised more than four billion dollars and saved and improved the lives of 17 million children each year.
According to Jennings, the funds raised through Auburn’s chapter of Phi Mu benefit children’s hospitals in Birmingham and Columbus.
“It’s amazing to see our hard work and planning for the golf tournament directly impact the precious children in nearby communities that need so much help,” Jennings said.
The tournament will be held at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, Grand National course. Two tournaments will be played during the event, on the Lake Course and the Short Course. Registration for the Lake Course will be $100 per golfer and the Short Course will be $50 per golfer. Tee-off for the Lake Course will begin at 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. for the Short Course. Golf carts, lunch and a T-shirt are included in the price of the courses.
“The Golf Tournament is always so much fun, our supporters get to play a sport they love and help out a great cause,” said Lauren Baggett, a senior in Phi Mu. “My parents came in town to play my freshman year, and they’ve come back every October since!”
Phi Mu will also be accepting “Hole Sponsorships” for $100, which will include the person or company’s name on a banner at a hole.
“Last year, we raised almost $40,000 through the tournament and we hope to raise at least that much again,” Jennings said. “The tournament is a fantastic opportunity to help out a lot of deserving children.”
