The farm's newest adventure comes with the opening of a brand-new healthy supermarket. Earth Fare, opening on Wednesday, June 23 2010 is a new breed of supermarket. The newest supermarket in Lee County is located in Flint’s Crossing on Opelika Road, across from the Colonial Village Mall. The 16,000 square foot grocery store has eight core philosophies that ban antibiotics, synthetic growth hormones, or inhumane treatment of animals.
Earth Fare supports local farmers whenever possible. The encouragement that comes from the immediate economic impact, and the higher quality and availability has created an environment that allows shoppers to visit where their food is coming from. Also Earth Fare does everything it can to reduce its carbon footprint, from limiting package materials to reducing transportation cost.
Randle farms mentality fits perfectly with this new venture. The mission of Randle Farms is to share the Gifts from the Good Land through our example of stewardship: teaching other the importance of the land and leaving it better than we found it.
Randle Farms is passionate about giving the members of the
Auburn/Opelika community an option for healthier foods. During June each week usually on Tuesday around 7a.m the farm opens its gates to visitors. Families are encouraged to come and pick blueberries, and because of the absence of pesticides you can even sample as you pick.
Each season brings a new and exciting harvest to Randle Farms; the farm
sales excess fruits and vegetables at the storefront. Eggs, sausage, and livestock are also available for purchase all year round. All livestock is raised on the farm without and are not fed any animal by-products.
Even restaurants in the local area and around the state have taken notice of the delicious produce and livestock available at Randle Farms. Hot And Hot Fish Club, SpringHouse Restaurant, and Amsterdam Cafe have all crafted menus that highlight seasonal and local goods.
