Fall graduation at Auburn University is approaching quickly, and students are experiencing mixed emotions about leaving The Loveliest Village On The Plains. Graduates will leave Auburn to pursue their own careers. Kelli Hood, a senior in public relations, is preparing to graduate in December. Hood hopes to move to Nashville upon graduation.
“I want to move to Nashville and work for a PR firm there,” Hood said. “Ultimately, I want to end up working either for a record label or a musician, or something of that sort. I just want music to be in my life somehow.”
Hood has been looking for jobs in the Nashville area and plans to travel to Tennessee for interviews soon. She believes that the classes she has taken at Auburn have prepared her to begin a career in public relations.
“I think I’m prepared with all of my studies and school,” Hood said. “I like Auburn. I want to stay, but I’ve got to go.”
Hood has joined WarEagle.me to communicate with fellow Auburn students, faculty and alumni. Public relations students at Auburn created WarEagle.me, and it was launched this month. It is a social media site, much like The Loveliest Village, strictly for Auburn PR students, faculty and alumni. The Web site allows current students to connect with alumni in the PR field and keep up with what they are doing.
“It’s a great way for Auburn PR students and faculty to stay in touch and see how everybody’s doing after graduation, if everybody’s staying involved in the field, or if they’re doing something totally different,” Hood said. “You can create a lot of connections because there is a lot of people from Auburn that have done a lot of good things with PR.”
The creators of WarEagle.me encourage Auburn students, faculty and alumni in public relations to join the site to stay connected with Auburn University and the PR program.
