The cool weather is upon us and it’s time to start thinking about a fall wardrobe. Don’t know what the forecast is for this falls fashion trends? Here are some pointers on how to stay fashion forward.
Katie Harper, a sophomore here at Auburn, gives her fashion tips for the fall, places to shop, and what styles she plans to follow this season.
“I get most of my style ideas from celebrities, but I also read style magazines and fashion blogs to see what else is trending,” Katie says.
She particularly likes fall because it gives the chance to be fashionable, yet comfortable.
“I love fall because I can wear my skinny jeans with my boots and an oversized sweater. It’s really comfortable, but also looks cute,” Katie says.
While being a college student on a budget, there isn’t much extra money to spend on clothing Katie explains, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t find some time and money to go downtown and do some shopping.
“I like Urban Outfitters and online shopping sites, and I love all the boutiques downtown on College,” Katie says.
One trend she is excited about for this fall is bright colored jeans. Glamour magazine says that bright colored pants are, “an easy way to make winter’s dark layers look fresh and fun.”
A typical going out outfit for fall, according to Katie, would still include wearing a dress, but pairing it with a sweater that is belted and the waist and boots. When it gets even cooler a pair of tights adds warmth yet is still trendy.
Her two staples this fall are going to be leather jackets paired with an infinity scarf.
More styles can be found in Susan Cernek’s article, “Fall 2011’s Most Wearable Trends” at www.glamour.com.
Some of the trends outlined in her article, taken from the runway, include, chunky sweaters and skirts, touches of lace, hit cut slits and plaids.
A popular pattern appearing this fall is polka dots. Cernek suggests that if a full outfit of polka dot is too much, try a simple polka dot accessory like a scarf.
The colors of this fall are also detailed at Glamour.com and include, mustard hues, jade green dresses and the “universally flattering “rust colored coat.
With a few staple pieces, paired with the right accessories, in the right color, a fashion forward fall wardrobe is easily put together.
