We all have heard of the dreaded freshman 15. You get to college and you no longer have to eat those green veggies mom puts on your plate at home. You're free to eat all the pizza, burgers and fries you want. Unfortunately, in a college town, junk food is the only food that is readily available.
Grocery shopping would be the next option, but most college students are on a budget and they stock up on things such as Top Ramen Noodles and microwave dinners. This option isn't much better than eating pizza every weekend.
There is also the option of buying so called healthy food on your college budget. Foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grain breads and granola. What people don't know is that these foods may seem healthy on the outside but they are filled with additives and preservatives on the inside.
Additives and preservatives are used in foods to make them taste better, look better and last longer. Surely food would taste its best at its most natural form, fresh from the Earth. Some may think they they would have to grow their own garden or go to a farmer's market to get food so fresh. Now there's the option of Earth Fare.
The new Earth Fare location will be open June 23 in Auburn, Ala. Earth Fare is a healthy supermarket. Not to be confused with a health food store. Earth Fare offers natural and organic foods. You don't have to be a vegetarian to shop there, nor do you have to be a health enthusiast. Not only do they offer produce from local farmers, they also have the best grass fed meats.
Earth Fare also has a deli with ready to eat foods that are prepared right there in the supermarket. Don't think you have to give up your sweet treats just because it's a healthy supermarket. There is a bakery where you can try some of Earth Fare's homemade cookies baked with all natural ingredients.
With Earth Fare so close to a college campus, Auburn students have the chance to reverse that freshman 15 and start a healthier lifestyle. With the option of a healthy supermarket, students can get the nutrition they need. So come by Earth Fare on June 23 to see what they have to offer. You can reverse that freshman 15 before it turns into the senior 30.
