With the Tigers being 5-0, more students are considering making the 12-hour drive to Fayetteville, Ark. for the next game.

For the students daring enough to venture north, make sure you have good music, great friends and lots of junk food for the ride.

“I prefer beef jerky,” said senior Mike Smith. “Just something about it that makes the ride a little more bearable.”

Snacks and comfort food can help pass the time, but for some even Twizzlers are not enough to get them in the car for the long journey.

“I just don’t have the time,” said Chasity Fault, a sophomore in nursing. “I work on the weekends and when I am not working, I’m in the library.”

Several reasons come to mind when thinking of excuses not to go to Arkansas. The most prevalent on campus is mid-terms on Monday.

“It couldn’t have come at a worse time,” said Stephen Sampson, a sophomore in the college of business. “I have a test in each one of my classes next week, which means I will take five tests in five days.”

With a large majority of students bogged down by mid-term testing, the number of students willing to make the trip is diminished.

However, if you’re one of the lucky ones to finish mid-terms on Friday, a trip to Arkansas could be just what you need after a stressful week.

Smith has words of advice for those making the drive. He has traveled to Arkansas three times, most recently during the 2007 season when Auburn defeated Arkansas 9-7.

“Get a bunch of your friends together, rent an RV, stock pile some food and update your iPod,” said smith. “Even though this trip seems long, it is still one of my favorite memories from college. It’s one of those ‘War eagle moments.’”

A Tigerette from Mobile, Ala., Bianca Harris, has yet to travel to an away game. She has decided to take the plunge and drive for the Tigers’ next away game.

“I think it’s about time I make it to an away game and show some love for my team,” said Harris.
