The Ronald McDonald House is a safe place where families can go while they have loved ones who are seriously ill or injured in the hospital. It provides them with a safe place to stay worry-free.
ADPi's Philanthropy chair is sophomore, Mary Frances Morris. "Instead of having to pay for a hotel room or stay in the hospital, they can walk across the street to the local Ronald McDonald House."
At a Ronald McDonald House, families will be provided with home-cooked meals, private bedrooms and playrooms for children.
ADPi's donate money to make sure that families can enjoy these benefits without having to pay for them.
As Philanthropy chair, Morris is in charge of overseeing this event and has been planning it since the school year began.
The ADPi's event will benefit the Ronald McDonald House in nearby Columbus, GA.
The tournament will take place at the Auburn University Student Activities Center from 2-6p.m. Registration will begin at 1:30p.m.
The tournament is a 3-on-3-style basketball tournament.
"People can get their teams together, of 3 or 4 if you want an alternate, girls or boys, and play in the tournament to raise money."
To play in the tournament it is $10, if you only want a t-shirt from the event, it will cost $10.
Since 1979, Alpha Delta Pi has been committed to serving Ronald McDonald House Charities(RMHC). Nationally, Alpha Delta Pi has contributed more than $5 million to this cause.
RMHC supports Ronald McDonald Houses, Care Mobiles and Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in local communities.
In addition to this event, Auburn ADPi’s make frequent visits to the House in GA to volunteer or take supplies. Aside from this event, the sorority also has a “Pie-a-Pi” event, in which people can pay money to throw a pie in the face of any member of ADPi. “Pie-A-Pi” is held in the fall and spring on Cater Lawn.
