“You guys are getting an Earth Fare in Auburn! Wow you have been missing out!” As I try to explain to my a friend Travis Johnson who lives in Greensboro North Carolina, over the telephone my newest project for a public relations course and how excited I am he makes a joke that Auburn is “missing out”. “I couldn’t imagine not having an Earth Fare supermarket, it’s the best!”
Travis explains before I can even get to the reason I called was because I wanted to interview him and asked why he loves shopping at Earth Fare so much and why the Auburn community will enjoy having one. If you haven’t guessed it Travis is a regular customer at his local Earth Fare in Greensboro, North Carolina and couldn’t say enough about how much he enjoyed shopping there and how he knows I will love it too.

For most of the conversation Travis did all the talking he mentioned that even though he didn’t consider himself a health freak but after he thought about it almost every item in his pantry was from Earth Fare. “I’m not any sort of body builder health psycho, but after visiting my local Earth Fare and learning about some of the chemicals I was willing placing into my body by eating processed foods, my ideas changed about organic foods. I learned that just because its organic doesn’t mean it isn’t satisfying or tasty, it was like I was having my cake and eating it to because I was eating healthier but still I was getting the same taste in foods if not better.”
Which is a huge misconception about organic foods, that it’s not as satisfying, in fact its more satisfying because you are getting best of both worlds.Travis went on to explain that the staff was very helpful when it came to questions about making meals and learning how to become a healthy 23 year old. “I was almost like ok I bought all of this ‘stuff’ now what? “ He laughs as he explains his not so great cooking skills improved by learning what to cook and how to cook it.
“Of course not everything I was in love with but I can certainly say that this was a step in a great direction for my health.” I feel that people in a community such as Auburn need to hear things like this because Earth Fare is a new and exciting change yet it is still an unknown for many locals. Fear not Earth Fare is great for every age group, from university students to moms and dads with three young children.
“I can guarantee you and your friends are going to fall in love with Earth Fare and it will to become a way of life as it has with me.” Travis tells me as we are getting off the phone, I respond by saying I’m so excited to learn something that will not only benefit me but also my local farmers and community. Earth Fare isn’t about being a health guru it is about shopping in a pleasant atmosphere and purchasing food items that are great for you and the community.
