As the ‘Auburn Family’ excitedly anticipates the arrival of the very first Earth Fare, I decided to interview the ‘Brinson Family’ and ask why they are more excited than ever about ‘the Healthy Supermarket’ coming to town. The ‘Brinson’s’ are a family of five, Chad and Tori with their three children Kennedy 7, Rylan 4, and the newest addition Everett 1.

“Well when I decided that my family would eat organic it really wasn’t just about the nutrition aspect but more about the absence of harmful pesticides, herbicides and other unwanted chemicals we may put in our bodies by eating processed foods.” This was Tori’s response when I asked her what influenced her decision when it came to organic vs. non-organic.

“I feel better when I eat healthier and I notice a change in my children as well when I allow the occasional fast food lunch, which is why it’s an ‘occasional’ event.” Tori laughs and tells me that she’s surprised that more people aren’t aware of the harsh chemicals that are involved with processed foods and annoyed when she gets the response, “well not everyone can afford organic.” Which she only replies with “oh yes you can.”

Raising three young children is an adventure in itself and most mothers can relate that shopping trips can be more or less a nightmare especially if you are like Tori who prefers certain organic items but cannot find them going to an ordinary grocery store. “It’s very in convenient when I have to make more than one stop or sometimes even three stores to buy the items that my family enjoys, with Earth Fare it is one store that I can find items that I already love and new ones as well.”

As Tori and I continue to talk she mentions that her daughter Kennedy is ADHD, and that there has been some studies that mention eating well can help calm her down and make her focus, “A few days ago I noticed that I hadn’t given Kennedy her medication yet she was acting as if I had and I feel like a reason for that is because of what I allow my children to eat.”

Earth Fare is more of an event than some may understand, Tori explains to me that “When you have your own children and have to make decisions not just for yourself but for another human being that you will only want and decide the best options.” She tells me the advantages of having a convenient supermarket targeted to her ideals is like me having my favorite clothing store located down the street from me, (for some reason adults think all young women do is shop for clothes).

She shares with me what she has heard and read on the Earth Fare website that “the staff will be friendly and anxious to teach me new ideas for preparation of food and other information I may not know, it’s almost like I’m joining a new club.” Which is exactly what Earth Fare is a supermarket that when you walk in to purchase an item you will be warmly greeted and know that everyone who is there has the same goal as you do, a healthy lifestyle.
