This Sunday, November 9, 2008 the Beta Xi chapter of Delta Zeta will host their annual philanthropy event. A day at the park will benefit the Lee County Humane Society and the Speech and Hearing Impaired.
A day at the park is being held at Keisel Park and will begin at 2 p.m. The day’s events will include a dog walk, costume and talent contest and an ultimate Frisbee competition. Entertainment will be provided by Michael Warren. There will also be refreshments and an ice cream truck in the afternoon.
Members of the Delta Zeta Sorority will have participation forms and the cost for the event will be $10. Participants will receive a t-shirt and the first 50 members to arrive will get a complimentary gift.
Melissa Edwards is the coordinator of the event. “We’ve been planning since last May for a day at the park. We hope than we have a great turnout,” she explained.
Every sorority and fraternity at Auburn hosts philanthropy each year to support local and national groups. Nationally, Delta Zeta supports the Sound Beginnings Program, the Painted Turtle camp, the Starkey Hearing Foundation and Gallaudet University. Locally, they support the Alabama School for the Deaf and Blind and the Lee County Humane Society.
