The Amazing Race 13 :: Real Reality TV

Every fall brings in the changing of leaves, new students, football fanatics and new television seasons. While each holds its own excitement, many people find the new seasons the most interesting. For some times, people have been ready for the change in casts, the brand new stories and the answers they have all been waiting for. This season was no different. With shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Entourage, and Survivor and One Tree Hill already begun some anxieties have been erased. But for others, their anxiety will end on Sunday.

The thirteenth season of CBS’ hit show The Amazing Race starts September 28th. This season will feature 11 new teams ready to race around the world for the million-dollar prize. Teams will feature people from all different walks of life. There are contestants of all ages, from all over the United States. There are cheerleaders, beekeepers, divorcees, married couples, dating couples, friends and families.

Each team is featured on CBS.com with a short video blog. Each team talks about their team, their strengths, the weaknesses and their thoughts on the upcoming race. They each show a part of their personalities. This gives awaiting fans the chance to pick a favorite even before seeing the show.

This season begins in Los Angeles at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The teams will travel to five continents spanning over 30,000 mile in just 23 days. They will visit several countries such as Kazakhstan and Cambodia. They will complete various roadblocks, detours and obstacles along the way.

While this may be just another reality show, this show is a bit different. They are not stranded on an island fending for food, they are not living in a house together fighting for leadership, they are just teams racing around the world doing unimaginable stunts while learning about themselves along the way. While some teams to fight with others, most fights are within the two man teams. While this show is a race, it is almost a test of relationships, trust and skills.

This series has already won six Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program in its thirteen seasons, and this season is expected to be better than them all. There will be drama, fights and even a mistake that eliminates a team from the race.

Students throughout the country including Auburn University will watch The Amazing Race with anticipation as the season begins. They have weekly groups get together to watch the show. Each person has a favorite team. Each reacts to the new dramas, the new challenges. They hope to see new ideas form and new tests completed.
The Amazing Race 13 will be on CBS every Sunday at 8/7 central. While this show may be a hit show, it is not like all other shows. No season builds on the next and contestants are never the same. New cities are visited and new challenges are introduced. Who will win this season? What will they be doing? Who is going to have the biggest fight? All this and more can be on CBS every Sunday at 8/7 central or on www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race/.
