The Bachelorette: viewers' reactions to DeAnna's final decision
25 men and one beautiful woman. Every Monday night this summer, girls across the country have found themselves intrigued with DeAnna Pappas and her quest for love.
After having her heart broken last November by Brad on The Bachelor, DeAnna, a 26 year-old Real Estate Agent from Newnon, GA, got a second chance at finding love when she was selected to be the next bachelorette.
On Monday, DeAnna shocked her viewers when she selected Jesse to receive the final rose and gave him the chance to get down on one knee and propose – which he did.
“DeAnna, will you spend forever with me?” Jesse said after DeAnna offered him the final rose.
Jesse, a 26 year-old professional snowboarder, was not a favorite from the beginning. Week after week, girls and guys alike were shocked when DeAnna kept offering Jesse a rose.
He was different from the rest of the bachelors DeAnna had to choose from. He was not afraid to be different or stand out from the crowd. He showed his true colors throughout the show.
Jason, a 31 year-old account executive from Kirkwood, WA, was the other eligible bachelor that made it to DeAnna’s top two. A sweet, goofy man, Jason, was the favorite for many people watching the show.
Jason had a kind heart and a three-year-old son that stole almost as many hearts as he did. It was a hard moment to watch when DeAnna sent Jason home broken hearted.
However, after the shock of the final rose, viewers were able to watch DeAnna and Jesse together for the first time as an official couple on The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose.
After watching this, it was evident to most viewers that they were a happy couple. DeAnna and Jesse even announced the date for their wedding – May 9, 2009. They hope to get married in the Bahamas, where they say they fell in love, and will then honeymoon in Greece, courtesy of ABC.
Viewers’ reactions were both supportive and unsupportive of DeAnna’s decision.
Jennifer Hill thought DeAnna made the right decision by picking Jesse, while Erin Newton thought that DeAnna should have picked Jason. Newton accepts DeAnna’s decision and is glad that she selected the bachelor that she thought was best for her.
Whether people support DeAnna’s decision or not, she and Jesse appear to be a happy couple with a bright future ahead of them.
