It wasn’t the best start to the new year. Employees of the Colonial Mall Ruby Tuesday gathered for a staff meeting. The news was bad. The store would be one of more than 70 Ruby Tuesday restaurants to close beginning this year.About 20 of the 50-60 Ruby Tuesday employees were transferred to the other Ruby Tuesday on south College, but others were left to find work elsewhere. Border bound? Think again.

Students sometimes start planning Spring Break vacation months in advance. So, why after searching for flights, hotels and excursions would groups of college students cancel their plans? How about drug turf wars?



Warnings have been issued by the U.S., Canada, France, Italy and Germany to avoid travel to Mexico. In particular, college students have been warned to avoid Mexican border cities where drug violence is blamed for some 5,400 deaths last year.

April 2 marked World Autism Awareness Day. This neurobiological disorder is now being diagnosed in one out of every 150 people which is not limited by race or gender. Celebrities like Yoko Ono and Jenny McCarthy are stepping in to help raise funds for organizations dedicated to autism awareness, prevention and detection.



According to the Alabama State Department of Education, Lee County alone enrolled more than 10,000 children with disabilities during 2007.
