Transferring to the Tigers

Molly Frowine is a junior at Auburn University majoring in marketing. She just transferred to Auburn from Elon University in August.    “It was such a big change transferring here, Auburn is so huge and Elon only has about 5,000 students total,” said Frowine. Frowine was able to find roommates and a place to live in Auburn easily before transferring schools. She also got to stay in the same sorority, Sigma Kappa, because Auburn Panhellenic has a chapter. Frowine is from Davidson, N.C., a…See More

Non-Greek Life

One of the decisions every freshman must make as he or she enters Auburn University is whether or not to join a sorority or fraternity. Many students join as a way to make friends and to affiliate with a campus organization. But it is definitely not a necessity for first year Auburn students.     As of fall 2010, 28 percent of students on Auburn’s campus were involved in Greek life. Of those students, 2,331 were involved in a fraternity. Also, in 2010 Greek students collectively raised…See More

Studio 5: Auburn's Art World Interest Group

Not very many students at Auburn University have heard of Studio 5, except for art related majors. The students of Studio 5 want to spread the word about this small but exciting club. The club is open to all majors and has no requirements for membership, other than an interest in art.    The club provides opportunities to learn about and expand one’s knowledge of art. “We provide opportunities for club members to go together to various lectures and exhibitions,” said Jesse Burleson, president…See More

Auburn 50 Years Ago, Through the Eyes of an Alumnus

In 1957, the Tigers won their first national championship title, and Ed Baker was a senior at Alabama Polytechnic  Institute (API).  Things were done very differently then compared to now. A lot has changed including the name of the institution; it is of course now Auburn University.    Baker grew up in Alabama in Geneva County. He joined the Air Force after high school and he met his wife in Mobile, Ala. After a few years of service he got married and went to school at API on a GI bill. His…See More
