Dodging Domestic Violence

Children have enjoyed playing dodge ball for decades. The competitive game was made famous when “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story” became a blockbuster hit in the year 2004. Now, dodge ball has made its way to Auburn’s campus as a philanthropy event.

Winnie Logan has been a dedicated member of the East Alabama Gourd Sprouts for more than eight years. She and her husband even built a warehouse for the chapter to come together and meet every… Continue

"Throw me something, mister!"

“Throw me something, mister!” Most of us have screamed this phrase at the blur of costumes passing by during a parade at least once in our lives. We all know to fight for the best beads and banana moonpies. The combination of the colors green, purple and gold, the ping of doubloons hitting the asphalt and the masquerade balls can only mean one thing: it’s Mardi Gras season. But, have you ever stopped to think about how Mardi Gras came about?

Most people associate Mardi Gras with New… Continue
